Thankfully there is an archived version and it’s every bit as pretentious and dumb as its thumbnail and its title suggest. And then they have the nerve to sign as if they were speaking for Artists writ large.

Technology@lemmy.world•“thegentlemanpervert” producing AI CSAM is a NJ prosecutor, say copsEnglish
3·11 hours agoWell good. The sentence I quoted from only talks about accusations though. And the blurb seems to contradict itself in the very next sentence, citring several more “rare” examples.
I have nothing against ArsTechnica (yet) so I guess it’s just bad phrasing.
Thanks for sharing.

Technology@lemmy.world•Two German courts now hold Google liable for what its AI overviews sayEnglish
66·11 hours agoGoogle is directly liable for the content of its AI-generated search summaries.
(…)
The judges classified AI Overviews not as mere search results but as Google’s own statements, meaning the company itself has to answer for them.
GOOD. The world is not Big Tech’s sandbox.

12·5 hours agoNo way this goes through in the EU. Frankly this should be against the law in any country. It’s one thing to say “Whatever you do on our platform belongs to us”, but it’s a whole other thing to do this.
And then they’re going to whine about the EU waging war against the US again.
Please let me out of this universe, I’ll try a parallel one.

FWIW I use

I’m not a big fan of outdoor movies myself, but avoiding the wet butt is just a matter of bringing a picnic blanket (or any number of tricks one can use to avoid your normal blanket getting wet).

I know this type of convo, where people try to top each other with name-dropping, but I believe one should participate honestly, not driven by self-profiling. Maybe the lady in the picture won’t be impressed, but somebody will be.

Games@lemmy.world•What If Video Games Came on VHS? One Modder Is Finding OutEnglish
12·13 hours agoThe center point of dialogue on this topic isn’t about Google specifically though.
You mean this post? Obviously not. Or the article quoted above? Reads like being very specifically about Google to me.
the rug pull of the internet we were sold on while it was being built
Honestly, this is gobbledigook for me. My internet is not being rugpulled, I was never sold it (apart from paying my ISP) and I was a small child without a computer when it was being built.
industries built around norms
Which are those exactly?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•what was the weirdest online post you saw?English
11·2 days agoUsing underline for text that is not a link, combined with continuously bold and italic writing - oof. I’m not a superficial person but what good can come out of this? It’s the equivalent of a person on a street corner shouting sermons at you even though you’re just 1m away.

Games@lemmy.world•What If Video Games Came on VHS? One Modder Is Finding OutEnglish
62·2 days agoAnd sometimes the product in question involves the basic nuts and bolts of the internet itself. By which I mean: Google
I know that mine is a minority opinion, but I need to voice my dissent here: all Google products could disappear from the interwebz right now and it wouldn’t put a dent in my usage/habits.

Stands to reason that VHS would put that “on steroids”, relatively speaking.

Thank you! I’m not religious either.
But I’m sure many cough evangelicals would dispute us. What there’s 200+ languages in the world? Well this was before the tower of Babel. Cherry-picking the bibble.
One should feel sorry for them if they weren’t actively dangerous and harmful.

Technology@lemmy.world•Did “Russian bot traffic” really disappear after Ukrainian strikes on Yandex servers?English
696·7 days agoThanks. OPs should do that anyhow.
It stands to reason that attacking a few servers won’t stop all of Russia’s hybrid warfare, but it also stands to reason that there is some effect.
In any case, I hope Ukraine continues to succesfully attack (hopefully without civilian casualties) Russian infrastructure. We all benefit from that.

I’ll add to that:
Does me lending a book from the library not count?
The article is too much about direct remuneration. It reeks of a poor artist’s bitterness, but also of a Yuppie’s view of the world.
It’s not all about the money, and every artist should know that.
The article is just ragebait. And it’s 10 months old. It speaks poorly of OP that they felt the need to share it. There are much better ways of starting this discussion.
