Built in Overdrive support so you can borrow ebooks from your local library
Instapaper built in
It used to have Pocket support until that service shut down. Kobo was good about quickly replacing that with the equivalent service from Instapaper. It lets you save web pages and it doesn’t just save the link. It strips the ads and junk and saves a copy of the content. It’s also useful for bypassing soft pay walls.
I don’t know what you’re talking about with music on an ereader. I can’t speak to music or audiobook support since I haven’t tried it. I think the basic model I have supports audiobooks but not music.
Regarding music, I have been wanting to get a cheap and large (yes I know) tablet for sheet music. There are so many free pdfs out there that buying music is for chumps with ethics.
You’d probably want to build a housing for the remote to make it more like a guitar foot switch, but I agree it would be a great setup for sheet music.
I have large format ereader and I never thought to use it like that
So there’s a musical group I was in twenty years ago ish, and they do some fun stuff. Without going into too much detail we kind of constantly pushed the boundaries of the art form when I was with them. They did the sheet music on the large format ereader last I saw them but I don’t know if they still do, there are understandable complaints with the technology. Personally I just want something to hold all my practice shit.
The Kobo ereader has a remote you could manipulate with your feet.
So I have been putting off getting an ereader for music and the foot pedal is a necessity. Tell me of this remote
