Does wealth override race?

For what it’s worth, off duty cops who aren’t white were getting harassed by ICE in the Minneapolis area. Little different than class, but still something.

Wealth absolutely overrides race. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but ICE isn’t raiding the nicest restaurants in town or the country clubs.

That’s not really a good example. He was fully masked and all the people involved were black (the bank teller who called the cops, the cops that showed up, etc.). He was also “sketchy” (from the bank teller’s perspective) with writing an awkward note to withdraw a large sum of money and that he wanted it done discreetly. It was still a fuck up on Bank of America’s part, but in this instance I give the bank teller some amount of understanding when the entire context is taken into considering. Ryan Coogler even said he was satisfied with how BoA apologized and whatnot.

All that being said, if it was a poor person in this situation… I highly doubt the outcome would’ve been so cordial

Fair enough. I spent <5 seconds googling and choose the least spammy looking result on the front page.

Yes. I’m a person of color that gets mistaken for hispanic, middle eastern, etc depending on location (I’m very mixed). I am also rich by most definitions (peasant by today’s standards). I made it a point to buy a brand new BMW i4 M50 EV and a used 2021 Mercedes Benz C63 AMG because I was getting harassed while driving my beloved Ford Fiesta. Since getting the nice cars, I have not been bothered once.

It’s bullshit, but I understand the “why”. Bothering someone wity money is a pain in the ass and detrimental to their career. They can fuck with poor people all day long without consequences.

Well, and there’s this ideology in this country that if you’re wealthy, it’s because to deserve to be because you’re a good person.

The flip side of that is the cops see the poor as generally up to no good.

Think more like… people are getting arrested for simply having/seeing CSAM but the rich people who got exposed actually doing that stuff aren’t getting touched. It’s absolutely about money.

From what i know they’ve targetted places they expect illegal immigrants to work, like Target / Walmart (maybe both), and have more heavily targetted cities and certain states. (Minneapolis in Minnesota, though thst was largely for gangster-political reasons). Most rich americans live in suburbs or remote or gated communities, so i guess they get to avoid stuff like this.
