        Yaoi and yuri at least used to denote explicit sex? Has that changed? Non-sexual was shounen ai and shoujo ai in Western fan parlance (Japanese terms are more varied).

        Edit: a tongue in cheek meaning of “yaoi” was/is “yamete oshiri ga itai” (stop, my butt hurts)
