28·4 days agoI believe they want to divert all their resources into one huge Fortnite like success story. Something that can bring them a reliable recurring revenue stream.
I’ve had both installed on my machine without issues. Jumped back and forth until I decided Gnome wasn’t for me.
I prefer KDE. It works well out of the box and offers a good amount of customization. I tried gnome for a bit and didn’t like it.
What I like about Linux is that it’s easy to switch between DE. Just try out a few ones until you find something you like. I can recommend looking into Cinnamon (the DE of Mint).
Proof of Stake and Proof of Work are two different ways of electing who should append the blockchain with new transactions.
Proof of Work: the one who can waste most energy fastest is most likely to be elected.
Proof of Stake: the one with most money is most likely to be elected.
It’s a bit oversimplified, but that’s the general idea.

17·10 days agoMy fear is that when the AI bubble pops it will take many PC hardware manufacturers with it. Can Nvidia survive if OpenAI goes under? It will leave a massive hole in their finances.
A bubble popping might just make matters even worse.

4·20 days agoAzure has support for Linux servers. They’ve even made an effort to port Dotnet to Linux. A majority of their cloud infrastructure is Linux it seems.

94·20 days agoI don’t think companies are going to ditch their MS365 subscriptions. That would mean getting rid of Outlook and Teams, and that ain’t happening anytime soon.

It depends on the project. Not all open source project uses tailwind’s revenue model, which relied on that people are reading their docs.
LLMs won’t destroy open source, but it will change the landscape. Probably not for the better though.
