Im really really tempted to delete my linkedin. Its never got me a job in my life, but I did notice a lot of people look at my page before I got a couple in the past.
Its not a very good system. Its just more professional facebook with less subtlety about people looking at your page. And they lock EVERYTHING down that is useful in a paywall.

2·11 days agoYou already mentioned it but Fairphone + TMobile/Mint is a decent combo. The phone itself is fine with /e/. The only downside is the pictures/videos are not the greatest. I would recommend getting an actual camera/something a bit better if that is important to you.
I get the same coverage as my old stock android phone so its not a huge difference. I got the Fairphone 4 because the parts are easier to come by. They update the software ever month or so. No problems so far.

11·11 days agoWoo we staying!
Also anyone know how to use their API? https://api.fediverse.observer/
I would love to make a “treadiverse” combo line. Cause its hard to look at when piefed is slowly going up, lemmy is slowly going down, and m/k bin is going all over.
EDIT: Never mind, found it. Theres an icon on the right hand side.
Might be “Automatically add new remote communities” toggle on the admin side.

Ive never heard of apt-mirror, thats interesting. Ill have to take a look. thanks!
I made mine into a laptop. Its decent at doing most things.

Im downloading this version of wikipedia: https://browse.library.kiwix.org/viewer#wikipedia_en_all_mini_2025-12
I only have about 100GB left-ish so I dont want to get a huge amount. I might just get ebooks and throw those on there.

11·14 days agoI think a good test is to shut off your house internet and see what things you still need. Like actually disconnect the router and only go off your own infa. What can you get done, what things do you still need?
For me I found out:
- All my software development packages, linux isos, etc… are ALL online. If I was unable to get on certain websites, I would be SOL in doing most of my software development. Even simple stuff like installing via apt would be VERY hard.
- While I have OSM (open street maps), I dont have address info saved anywhere.
- Most of my mesh stuff (meshtastic) has online tools for all the builds and deploys. Meaning if the website goes down im SOL getting new nodes out in the wild.
- Entertainment is pretty much covered, since we dont have anything streaming anyways. We try to keep things DRM free to begin with so books/audio/movies can go to different places without worry.
- Radio still works, so news isnt really a big deal.
- I need to get a backup of some encyclopedias and/or get wikipedia somewhere hosted. That would be fun and informative.

29·22 days agoIncredibly powerful music.
Some highlights:
- I thought I would have the most fun with FF7 rebirth and FFT . But I kinda stopped playing both after **Ball x Pit ** came out. Woops. Very addicting gameplay loop.
- Finished a vast majority of Hades 2 . The story, gameplay, and amount of things to do was excellent. And of course the music was fantastic.
- Im still a C reeper World addict specifically 4. Theres maps that the community made where you play as the creeper, so ill put that on and read my audio books at the same time.
- Deltarune was fun to play though again and get to the current end. Im looking forward to playing the next installment. Toby has so much personality in his games :)
- Eartheon came out. It reminded me of Lightning force. I got the game working on the miyoo mini plus after buying it on steam.
- I didnt think I would like it but Ballionaire and peglin were both games I loved. Both had a somewhat similar game loop (like pagle but with objectives).
There were a couple of flops too:
- Rivals of Aether II - I loved the first version of hte game. But the newest version is just smash with less features if im honest. I hope they improve the game. I loved the other games in the Aether games, even the side ones.
- FF7 rebirth had moments that were really fun…but the game is a VERY big time slog to do anything worth doing. Its like they had FF7 and just threw Assassins Creed on top with more side missions. I really didnt like that. The music was FANTASTIC though. I really tried for a whole month, but the bugs in some boss fights + the slog made me stop playing.
- Defender’s Quest 2 was a letdown. I played the first game YEARS ago and payed for it when it came out on steam. The first game was fun and had a lot of depth. This latest edition didnt have any of that. VERY short game with not the greatest premise. Story was very bad. Its too bad.
- Baldur’s Gate 3 - yeah this is a controversial one. It was a fantastic game starting out, but there is an area that didnt load correctly and removed one of the 3 doohickeys you need to get to get out of a dungeon. And could not progress. So I had to reload the game, go through another 40+ hours of gameplay to get stuck again and glitch though the floor for my entire party. Im thinking this will be a better game to play on a normal PC rather than a steam deck. It looked as good and played as good as everyone said, but the bugs made it unplayable. (This is without mods). Ill give it a try some other time, but for now, its a bit broken.

Most text editors like vim/emacs/ect have ways of using a debugger.
I remember vim being a bit involved, but the performance was awesome.
But then if you put enough bells and whistles on text editors, do they become an ide?
