  • Oh hey, anthropology questions on a primarily western instance filled with Americans and Europeans, this will end well.

Simple answer: It heavily depends on the region and time period, there were periods of equality and periods of great inequality in every area of the – it was Greece. and the Germanic tribes that eventually formed Rome. That is the reason why it is prevalent in western culture as a meme, as well as anywhere western culture colonized.

    Complex Answer:

Women have historically been equal to men or held in higher positions of power than men for most of human history. In early human societies (and intact uncontacted societies today, from observation) there was no clear sexual hierarchy, so we can conclude it didn’t really start there. From western development we see women in equal roles in pre-dynastic Egypt and across multiple middle eastern areas. While some greek tribes (and for that matter some germanic tribes) did have women in spiritual or leadership roles, this was incredibly uncommon and as ‘European’ culture became the ‘civilized’ culture, women took on a much more subservient, lesser role in society; as they saw the male form as more capable.

As one culture and viewpoint started to dominate, it started to leak in and infect practically every aspect of society. Early Catholicism and christianity, for instance, had women as equals, though the church lost that idea by the 9th century. By the 19th century when we see modern women’s liberation movements, a fully patriarchal society had developed which was incredibly domineering and widespread. Thanks to colonization by western European powers.

  • You think far, far too highly of Americans. By international standards most aren’t even educated and would be considered grade school drop outs. Adding onto that over half the US population has been exposed to unsafe lead levels in their water and environment for their entire lives, including at least half still exposed today.

The ‘guardian council’ is real, the same way there’s a group of bishops in Italy that advise the government. The power they have is… advice. They have no power over elections, they have some power over laws.

Again it’s a theocratic republic, the heart of the Shia religion. While other religious groups are guaranteed government representation in Parliament (which again disproves your original concept of ‘hurr durr magic guardian council chooses who can run for office,’ they still need to make sure any laws passed do not discriminate against Shia and abide by the basics of abrahamic religions.

So, no. that’s not how any of that works.

He was the head of the Shia sect of Islam. i.e. he was essentially the pope.

He was not the head of state and had limited power beyond his role as spiritual leader. The head of state would be the president of Iran, or the Prime minister. Both of whom did consult him, of course as it’s still a theocratic republic, but he had as much power as the pope has in Italy.

Repeating far-right propaganda like you are does nothing to help anyone. Change cannot be brought about by objectively false analysis and propaganda; hence the current state of Afghanistan and Iraq.

    SpaceX, owned by nazi billionaire(s) but staffed by mostly ex-JPL engineers and people enthusiastic about getting humans to colonize space, works with NASA and multiple universities in order to advance the common goal of colonizing space;

    isn’t much different from:

Boeing, Lockheed, and a half dozen defense contractors, all owned by nazi billionaires, all staffed with various engineers that have floated between public and private sector life, all working (in this exact instance) on the human colonization of space, all lead by NASA and the international science community.

If we’re comparing accomplishments, then SpaceX has done more successful launches than the entirety of NASA, by a large margin; including human space flights.

Basically fake space fans that don’t know enough about the situation. They think hating Elon takes precedent over… literally all thought and facts; or that the billionaires behind the SLS and orion capsule are somehow better than the billionaire behind starship.

Also classic reddit group think from people that have never been banned on reddit and just joined lemmy to be different.

No love to Elon but… SpaceX’s primary business and goal has nothing to do with starlink, which is just a fundraising venture.

The goal has always been mars, with Starship and the superheavy launcher.

If they just wanted to put up starlink, the falcon 9 system is more than capable, hence why it is the most flown space launch platform in human history, by quite a large margin.

Also Musk is to SpaceX as Henry Ford is to the modern Ford motor corporation. He’s locked out of pretty much all decisions, he’s been locked out of the engineering decisions for years, and besides him buying and then reselling access like he did in ukraine he’s not really involved.

I know Artemis has attracted people that haven’t paid attention to space flight since the 1960s, but there’s a reason the ISS is only going to use spacex capsules on the international side until it’s decommissioned; and there’s a reason why any on-moon missions are going to be pretty much just spaceX’s vehicles; at least according to all NASA plans for the next decade.

  • Honey, the best case scenario is that they see your genitals and only ask you to explain.

TSA workers can, will, and do grope anyone they find ‘suspicious’ and have the right to continue until they no longer deem you suspicious.

And that’s without mentioning the thousands of allegations of what happens in the closed-door security rooms for ‘enhanced’ security searches.

You best hope you’re not attractive to whatever sentient meatball they put in a suit with an incredibly basic background check that only cares for felonies (of which most sex crimes are not), poor training, and practically no oversight.
