That people watch them. I can stop myself from watching them, but all those billions of my fellow stupid people are still being influenced, and I can’t do anything about that.
I’d have to say it’s the mind control that bothers me the most. When I cut the cord to my TV way back when, it really felt like most people lived in an ersatz reality where people only did things they saw in TV commercials. Whatever they see on TV is “real” and anything that capital doesn’t have an interest in promoting to them is “weird.”
134·6 days agoJesus, the “plandemic” explanation for why the Internet is dying. The Internet IS clearly dying, but this is stupid. Even if we got rid of all the bots and AI, the Internet would still be dying, because open protocols are not as exploitable as walled gardens. The value of capital in the world overwhelms the value of human labour and human interest, and all our social structures conform to the needs of capital over time.
“Do you have a source?” means, “I already know you are wrong but you won’t believe me unless you find out for yourself.”

It has taken the place in people’s behaviour but it has not taken the place functionally. No doubt, you use technology to filter ads out of YouTube viewing, and one could do the same with OTA broadcasts.

It’s just the name of a particular kind of social get-together.
I went to an introvert’s munch once. It was held at a public library. Everyone just nodded and smiled at each other as they read books. No one spoke to anyone. It was amusing as performance art but it was a shitty munch.

Or, don’t participate in atrocity against animals.
It is genuinely pretty obscene. You can’t “offset” this kind of behaviour.
