In my experience, KDE has too many features that are buggy and don’t work. Like hiding the task bar automatically will break the search shortcut because the search is attached to the task bar, so it won’t come up unless you mouse over the task bar

Gnome has no features, yet it’s buggy and doesn’t work. You alt tab out of a Wine game and it will think the alt button is constantly pressed down when you tab back in.

  • The broader market did the same thing

    https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/SPY/

    $560 to $510 to $560 to $540

So why did $NVDA have larger swings? It has to do with the concept called beta. High beta stocks go up faster when the market is up and go down lower when the market is done. Basically high variance risky investments.

Why did the market have these swings? Because of uncertainty about future interest rates. Interest rates not only matter vis-a-vis business loans but affect the interest-free rate for investors.

When investors invest into the stock market, they want to get back the risk free rate (how much they get from treasuries) + the risk premium (how much stocks outperform bonds long term)

If the risks of the stock market are the same, but the payoff of the treasuries changes, then you need a high return from stocks. To get a higher return you can only accept a lower price,

This is why stocks are down, NVDA is still making plenty of money in AI

  • Did I say zero revenue? I said didn’t make a profit. Lots of companies made money, but couldn’t make more money than they spent. You can easily have an investment that is valued high that you can’t cash out

Let’s say you bought some stock now, at the end of the year it’s worth $1,000,000 and you get charged $150,000 in April. Big problem, the brokerages stopped allowing you to sell the stock and it crashed down, so now your GameStop stock is worth $100,000

    How do you pay?

  • Let’s say I give $100,000 to a friend that starts a start-up. You claim after some years that investment is worth $1,000,000 and want me to pay $150,000 tax

I take out a loan for $150,000 because the startup didn’t make any profit. The startup goes bust. I now have a $100,000 loss and I paid $150,000 in taxes. Thankfully I can write $3000 off on my taxes every year until I die!
