Replayability because the core gameplay loop is fun, I whole heartedly support. I still (re)play (Open)TTD for this very reason and that’s been here for decades with no end in sight.
Endgame however, not always required.

‘The endgame’ really only started to become a thing with te launch of live service games. Or more specifically at that time, MMO games.
There was a time when it was perfectly okay to have a game you thoroughly enjoyed for say 10-, 20-, or 30 hours, and then ‘ended the game’.
With game backlogs also having become a thing, I’m fine with playing a game like this, enjoying it while I am working through it, and then moving on to the next thing.
I have no idea what the actual reason is, I am just responding to the German language aspect.
In Dutch the word “niks” means nothing.
If Mr. Dolstra used a “nothing” reference, wouldn’t it make more sense that the Dutch person referenced the Dutch word “niks”, which is pronounced exactly the same way as Nix?
As far as conjecture goes this is far more plausible than a Dutch guy picking a German word “nichts” that resembles the pronunciation of the word/name Nix.
And for some reason Hollywood has engrained on society the notion that the Dutch natively speak German. Some of them learn it, but it is not their native language.
For the life of me I cannot fathom why that crowd doesn’t just switch to an Apple ecosystem when leaving Windows. The entire design philosophy is intended to cater to non-tech savvy people, and to keep them that way. Not saying every Apple user is non-tech savvy, but it is built to be stupid simple to use for anyone.
This YouTuber’s “I can install Linux but abandon it because I can’t figure out why it won’t boot anymore” mentality shows his own limitations.
Buy an Apple if you want to leave Windows, but have no interest in becoming proficient enough to use Linux as a main driver.
