It has in some ways, it’s awfully convenient that features that would harm their ability to spread their ideology get neutered or not developed fully. Like making the modlog less useful, neutering the vote system (Lemmy used to have a more robust voting system, until they noticed that it could be used against them) or still not having a proper blocking system in place after 4 years
There’s also the “soft” issues, instance admins not wanting to take the step of defederating with .ml when they do so with grad and hex because they depend on support from dessalines and they fear he would be petty and cut off support with them if they dared to do so (which prob would)
PieFed is an alternative platform in the same social media category of Lemmy, “Forum and link aggregator”.
It’s younger, but is being rapidly developed, esp considering it’s written in mostly python instead of Rust.
Biggest benefit though, is it doesn’t come with toxic political ideologies attached like Lemmy does (https://lemmy.world/post/29072279)
Also why we’re moving to more generic terms like “Threadiverse” instead of “Lemmy-verse”

I mean everyone has different tastes, it’s impossible for someone only to post things everyone likes
I don’t believe that, comics are comics and can cross an entire range of emotional triggers just like movies or a TV show. Many opt for comedy yes, some make you sad, some are “preachy” etc
I wonder if I can block by a multiword keyword…
Iirc PieFed has a much more robust filtering mechanism than Lemmy, so it might do this if that’s what you desire

Why am I cross-posting .ml content?
I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don’t want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some niche comms.

And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can’t even put them all here because this comment would be really long.
I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda
On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like “Lemmy? Isn’t that the place with a bunch of tankies?” Or “Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left”. The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.
What? How is this not a comic?

1·15 days agoThe original comment reply to you was all about how the legal system would act, that’s the primary concern. All it would take is a Trump loyalist judge, a Trump leaning appeals court and the right-wing Supreme Court and boom suddenly the CFAA covers a whole lot more than what was “logical”
Not a bad idea, or a mass register of all certified kid friendly domains regardless of TLD that such filtering software can freely pull from
Please instruct me on how I go to the timeline where the legal system always makes decisions based on logic, reasoning, evidence and fairness and not…the opposite…of all those things
You have a lot of trust placed in the courts to actually do the right thing
You say, just as news breaks that the top German court has over turned a decision that declared “AD blocking isn’t piracy”

Dam I still need to watch the last 2 seasons of that show LMAO
Considering this is leagues better than what I can draw with my barely recognizable stick figures, my only advice is to just keep drawing to your heart!
