  • Each area of the world is different.

Where I am, there are 3 or more groups that meet up every 2 weeks. They are informal meetups with a small fee of $5, for anyone to come down and join in playing boardgmes with others. At community centres in different suburbs.

You can pre-arrange to play with friends, or just meet and play with people on the day.

I’ve made many good friends, found great games, and taught many games to others through these groups.

To find them in your town, search for this:

    Boardgame association [your town name]

Casual boardgame night [your town name]

    Boardgame meetup [your town name]

If you can’t find any meetups using these strings, it may be an opportunity to set up a casual game group in your town.

    • Boardgames that are awesome and I’ll play at anytime: Bruges, Inis, Port Royal, Innovation, Targi, Jaipur, Grand Austria Hotel, Morels.

I remember when Ubuntu was released, and I still have one of the first or second release Ubuntu shipit CDs.

Ubuntu was good at marketing and they were good at making things ‘just work’.

It was often the recommended choice of starter-distro due to hardware compatibility.

I’ve installed and admin’ed Ubuntu on 20 PCs in a small office setting, and it provides a decent user experience.

I would not personally use Ubuntu.

My daily driver now is Trisquel GNU/Linux, which is Ubuntu with all non-free packages(and binary blobs) removed.

If you are at the stage where you know how to source hardware that works with FLOSS-drivers, try out a fully-free FSF approved distro.

    Clean, with zero corporate fluff.
