I really hate how Republicans are portrayed by the Elephant. I wish we could saddle them with another mascot. I know that the Elephant is their official symbol, but I don’t care. Elephants are intelligent, sensitive, kind, and even helpful creatures who would never be Republicans. 😕

2·12 days agoThis just warms my heart. 😃👍 Ahhh…if only he stole even more of their money. And then they’d end up on the street, he’d be finally impeached, and then imprisoned, and those idiots might get back 5% of the money they lost, so they’d still be screwed.

5·2 months agoWell, the good news for me personally is that since a year, I’ve been getting off of the American tech stack, hosting in Europe, with .eu domains, using aliases for emails on my own email server, locking down my stuff, and erasing what there is from iCloud, Google, etc… Completely. I wrote a long basic how-to a month ago to help others, and have been meaning to update it more. I’ve also been migrating my startup company’s setup to do the same. It’s all done now and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I’ve also been encouraging others online and friends and family to do the same. I even have a few of them using my Nextcloud server nearly full time now.
So I am trying to help. 😃

3·2 months agoSome of it is, I’m sure. But the reason I posted it was because it had a lot of detailed information which I hadn’t seen before. It was literally my first post on Lemmy today, other than comments. I hope I didn’t make a faux pas.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Sheesh, the US is sure getting scary. Well, it's a good thing it would be impossible to trace Signal to someone via metadata like a phone number, right?

Also, with no internet, nothing was around to distract you for 24 hours, or days, to try to solve one puzzle.

Well, it’s not Nazi Germany…but…the USA is definitely headed there. Then again, when the Nazis stopped you in the street, they would at least ask for your papers first. Apparently ICE and BP think that’s too woke or something.

7·3 months agoAround 1200, I start having a little trouble, but I can still read most of it fairly well. 1100 is when I start to lose a lot of it, struggling through. 1000 is what I remember from trying to write papers on this stuff in University wherein I’d use translated copies side by side.
Maybe I can go back further than some others because I’m so damned old. 🤣

1·3 months agoI use Pass since a few years. It has a wonderful package for Emacs, and great iOS apps with face ID for ease of use, and the DB can sync to your own private git server behind tailscale. If you have a server, I definitely suggest looking into it. You can check it out at https://www.passwordstore.org/

I’ve never used Plex, but I have my own server at Hetzner with large drives and I love my Jellyfin server. I use it every day for shows, movies, and tons of music at home, in the metro, and walking around town and traveling. I’ve never had a problem with it. Honestly, it’s fantastic.
