Question from a dummy: why should you use a VPN when visiting?

“Porco Rosso” is a about an ex-military seaplane pilot who battles air pirates. He also, incidentally, has been turned into a pig. It’s both fantastically funny and very occasionally heart-breaking.

It also has one of the best lines in cinema: “I’d rather be a pig than a fascist.”

Ghibli movies always appealed to me growing up because their female protagonists were very grounded, weren’t hyper-feminine to a comical degree, and actually did interesting things, like go on adventures. Their stories also did not focus solely on falling in love with a male character, and focused a lot on their unique internal struggles.

I would strongly suggest that anyone with a daughter give them the opportunity to see Ghibli movies. “Howl’s Moving Castle”, “Kiki’s Delivery Service”, “My Neighbor Totoro”, “Porco Rosso”, “Whisper of the Heart”, “The Cat Returns”, and “Castle in the Sky” were important to me in my formative years. Boys may like them, too! My son particularly loves “Porco Rosso”, “Ponyo”, and “Spirited Away.”

Definitely give your kids a chance to see them.

I’ve been to a convention before where someone has called out my online handle/gaming username. It was really funny.

The only time I was horrified was when I was requesting payment via P×ypal and someone mentioned my legal name. Felt like I was going to pass out for a second. I fucking hate P×ypal…

“Spring Cleaning” felt like a turning point to me, in a good way! I feel so fresh, so clean!

“Kid’s Book” was absolutely my favorite.

Tracing shapes & cutting them out.

It’s like 20% sewing, the other 80% being planning, geometry, resource management, tracing, and cutting.

And I often discover that I’m still bad at math! Pain. 🫠

I’ve gone on countless rants about how I loved Subnautica but loathed Below Zero.

In short, I hope that newest entry:

• stays in the water 90-95% of the time
• shuts up the protagonist
• seriously… shut up. Stop talking. Shut up. Let things be mysterious.

Seriously, Subnautica is one of my favorite games of all time and one of the first to make me care about it’s world. I’m only harsh because I want to like it so badly.

Also: I felt like Below Zero was one long trailer for the next game. Especially the ending. So absolutely disappointed… my kid still remembers my indignant anger at the ending more than the actual game, and still thinks it was the funniest reaction to the ending of any game we’ve ever played.

I think it’s all about how it’s said. The simpler, the better. Phrasing is important, too.

Hey OP. Please look up the “Stonewall riots”.

Directly fighting against the forces that are making & enforcing laws that can & will do harm is the right thing to do. If the people in power / enforcing unfair practices see they are unopposed, they will become stronger in their positions. Complacency allows imbalance.

Will I break windows for Gaza? No. I will not. Who will that help? Who am I fighting? That kind of thing is nonsense.

Will I fight police that are attacking students for protesting? YES. YES I WILL. Because if you fight back, they will understand that you will not allow yourself to be walked all over by unjust enforcement. They will think twice about attacking students next time, because they know people are willing to fight back. If they do not encounter opposition, they know they are safe to do whatever they want.

In short: once a bully realizes that you will hit back, they are less inclined to bully you. Even more so if you are backed up by more people who also hate the bully.

EDIT: To be fair, I don’t hope for “collapse”. However, I do understand why people do. The corrupt system goes so deep that collapse may be the only way to dismantle it, as it is beyond any kind of reform.

Do I want collapse? No. But, unfortunately, it may be necessary. The system cannot be fixed without being dismantled, and I’m not optimistic that we will experience a miracle.

No one is accusing him of rape. Just saying his view on the whole thing is sketch as fuck.

My criticism lies only with people who staunchly defend him and/or consider him a good guy / hero.

I am not a lawyer or a judge.

But “early views” nothing. The guy knows where he stands, it’s just that now he knows that being open about those views will get him in trouble.
