If you’re using Frigate with docker you could route the container through a gluetun container.

Getting a local security camera setup is kind of a pain but do able. Look into the self hosted software Frigate and go with their recommended brands.

In the US they use Chromebooks, not really any better but they do have Linux under the hood.

You’re not missing anything whatsoever. I got a great deal on a lightly used Pixel 10 Pro and other than the telephoto camera lens (which is admittedly nice) there is literally no functional difference I notice day to day from my previous Pixel 7 (not pro).

When I tried it I got the feeling it’s more for people looking to backup/archive entire YouTube channels than those (such as myself) basically just having what is functionally an RSS feed of most recent videos released this week (for example).

But like I said, it’s absolutely great at what it does I just found it waaaay too complicated than the simple “use jellyfin as a YouTube app replacement” I was looking for.

tubearchivist is great but probably overkill for someone just looking to subscribe and watch with Plex/Jellyfin instead of the YouTube app.
