I’m happy for you but unfortunately this isn’t a solution for me, because old PCs don’t have HDMI 2.1 support. I would have to buy a modern GPU, and I rather not spend hundreds.
one day my 2006 42" sony bravia is going to die. I will be very sad I have to by some new age bullshit, but at the very least ill be happy I dont have to deal with their spyware posing as convenience when the TV is permanently set to input 1 lol.
…thinking about it, maybe I should buy a new TV now, just incase the TV’s 5 years from now dont allow you to play from a physical input connection. Like a preemptive move in the endless game of enshitification chicken were all playing with companies.
Are you me? We bought the same tv around the same time. Thing has been across the country several times in moves and still keeps on keeping on. There is a local hotel selling off their old TVs (same one) for $50/each. I’ll be grabbing one of those next week for sure.
I’ve been doing this since the early 2000’s as well. Everything through a desktop.
