In this specific case it’s not just blind celebrity worship, he has solid experience pressuring legislators into doing the right things like with helping 9/11 firefighters, he’s generally on the correct side of most issues that affect the working class, and is a very good rhetorician (acknowledging that his show has other writers as well) to give speeches and communicate to the populace.
so that makes him a good activist… the leap from there to POTUS is like you seeing me volunteering at a soup kitchen and wanting to give me a Micheline star restaurant to run
