Take it from an old hen that’s just turned 61… It doesen’t get any better.

Being an adult is not sexy like on the TV or interwebs… it’s work and bouts of tedium.

Pro tip: Do NOT hold your own life up aganst the things you see elsewhere - most of it is fiction that is unattainable and it’ll make you insane trying to reach for it.

Find your own jams and be the best at your own dance.

THAT is attainable and the road to happiness and satisfaction.

I’m really looking forward to shirking the notion of night and day.

When my kid leaves the house it’s gonna get so so so weird up in here.

The one thing I’ll say is to be careful of that.

I’m in the no-sleep mode because of weird hormonal changes (my grandmother suffered the same) and it can make you really sick. It’s critical to get enough sleep as you age - it really does keep the brain healthy and shit slows inside one’s head - BIG TIME - by the mid-50’s.

I watched my grandmother’s mental decline accelerate the last year she was alive as she all but stopped getting a good night’s sleep.

I still intend to get sleep, I just am going to stop fighting the battle of waking up at a certain time and waiting for an acceptable time.

If anything this means I’m gonna be training to hibernate rather than becoming an insomniac.

    Saw this here yesterday.

“Being an adult is trying to go to sleep at night and trying to stay awake during the day.”

Never have I been so offended by something I completely agree with -

And yet… it all feels good to do. Much better than eating ice cream and playing video games

Hotline: Miami 2 and Mulley’s lactose free Cookies N’ Cream but I’d rather be housekeeping and eating healthy :)

If it has to be lactose free then I’d probably agree with you. I’d rather do laundry.

I’m fine with it but my wife is intolerant and it makes no sense to get two pints when we barely ever finish one together

On one hand, I LOVE crossing things off my list.

But God Damn does this ice cream taste fucking awesome.

(Adds “finish quart of ice cream” to list and proceeds to cross it off)

If you’re neurotypical. And halfways healthy.

Else you will have constant suffering.

I mean at least as an adult, when working at least in some professions I can organize my time in any way I want. I have a specific organization system, and if something interrupts me my whole day is ruined and sometimes I am not able to do anything anymore.

You get healthy by doing these and “organize your space, keep a schedule, and avoid instant-dopamine responses” is like the first bit of advice behavioural therapists will give you

Look I get that you’re not aware of all the shit people can have but it’s not that easy.

For one, being neurodivergent can literally not be understood by neurotypicals (and in part of course, vice versa). So getting born into a situation where everyone can walk around on their hands and you simply can’t, there is no ‘just do this and that’ solution.

And for the health aspect, do some research into multiple sclerosis and then tell me to take it easy.
