Hippies create culture, born out of nothing more than mud and sweat as an escape from soul-crushing capitalism.
The idea is everything. It gives purpose and meaning.
If you’re a barely-scraping by mechanic that makes little metal figurines in your free time with spare parts just because it makes you happy – you’re a hippy.
If you’re a coder who can’t make rent but likes to put out free and open source software because it makes you happy – you’re probably a hippy.
Hipsters admire this culture, but do not love the mud and sweat. They pay top dollar for Hippie products.
Image is everything. They project to others that they believe in a more fun and artful world, but their contribution to it is mostly derivative or parasitic.
They are simultaneously foes and allies to the hippie cause in the way that they compartmentalize and mass produce hippie products to the mindless masses, whilst giving the hippie message a stage
i don’t engage with trolls.
but to “refute” you: you didn’t have a point, you just completely made up your own, brand-new definitions…
every dictionary that has any definition of these words refutes your compulsive lying, i won’t copy and paste them and dance for you.

i do hope whatever boring, sad, forces that compel you to try to annoy people online gets better and you find a more fulfilling way to spend your life, before you wake up one day realizing you’ve wasted countless hours of trying your best to get attention by being irritating online and making stuff up.
Just imagine, if you spent the energy you spend trying to interrupt people having conversations into ANY endeavor, you could actually become an interesting person and get positive attention…
you trolls are just so sad.
That’s absolutely not what either of those words mean. Hippies were participants in a mid 20th century counterculture with elements such as use of psychedelic drugs, cannabis use, opposition to war, communal living, free love, returning to harmony with nature, and rejection of traditional societal norms.
Yes they had many descendant movements, such as the techno hippies (who ultimately descended into the open source movement), the new age, the Jesus freaks, etc and their influence can even be found in those who rejected them. But there were hippies who were posers and who were only in it for drugs or sex.
Hipster is a derogatory term for young primarily urban people focusing on aesthetics and individualism thats infamously hard to pin down and is largely associated with early 10s indie and social media scenes. In fact it is largely associated with outright rejection of any mass produced culture
that’s just a silly redefinition of words….
no, they don’t mean those things
well don’t leave us hanging
hang in there, baby
if you refute someone’s point, you need to provide a counterpoint - otherwise people will think that your only ability is to toss insults
