    That’s harsh, though I guess you could argue it’s no worse than jury service as it’s done here in the UK which is at least two weeks usually.

      Idk, bit different. In that case there’s a reason to have a more random sample, and not volunteers, and you are fulfilling the right of the defendant to a jury of their peers that you might need to use too at some point. But I guess one should be able to opt out of it and then be tried by the judge instead.
