California has had paid medical leave since 1946 and paid family leave since 2002, so there’s already precedents.

Fun fact: the only reason the supreme court has authority is because they said they do. And people have followed the norm of listening.

Sort of. Marbury v. Madison did establish “judicial review”, but the Constitution did already specify that “The judicial Power shall extend to […] the Laws of the United States”. Marbury was really the test case that demonstrated this power.

And yes, people followed the norm, which is how all of society operates, on norms and trust.

They may have meant the state Supreme Court since that’s who struck down the redistricting so California law or precedent doesn’t matter.

Unless it goes federal, but SCOTUS is rouge so who knows

Elections have consequences, Virginia. As you can see, sometimes good consequences too.

So universal healthcare, except not universal (only people employed by a company with more than 10 employees)…

Gotta keep the means checking. If you can’t work because you’re sick with cancer, where is your employer funded insurance?

Fucking idiots can’t see the whole picture. Don’t understand economies of scale. Probably don’t know how much of their employers total compensation package is your insurance (my employer splits costs 60/40. They pay 30k/yr and I pay 20k, family plan).

They just want to set up benefits so that the indigent don’t get any support. How very Christian of them.

It’s not universal health care at all though. It just means you still get paid some portion of your regular salary when you take sick leave. The health care costs are still there.

From what I’ve been reading about it in “dying of whiteness” it’s not that they don’t understand. They understand. Conservatives just don’t want the outgroups (eg: black people) to benefit. That’s it. They’d rather die themselves.
