Not European, but I’m a native English speaker. My parents both speak it and it’s what we (almost exclusively) spoke at home. But my mother’s family are relatively recent immigrants from England, FWIW.

Though, honestly, most (but far from all) people I know also speaks English. On any given day I only have a handful of conversations in any other language.

So I understand American movies pretty well. But I’m unable to compare to movies in the national language, because my country doesn’t have a national language.
