would something like rethinkDNS or some other firewall and / or DNS blocking tool be sufficient to cutting out all of this and still benefitting from the app locally?
are you me? is this my alt account and we’ve got a carbon monoxide situation going on?
could you DM me this signal group link, please?
an alternative to MS (or some other third-party) cloud doesn’t have to be “personal” devices, though. company-specific handling requirements can still be achieved via self-hosted network shares containing all user-saved data, which still aids in the local storage replacement issue that you’re having. but for many companies and spaces, MS cloud or whatever third-party could be just fine, and this will of course push some of those folks that direction nicely
did hacker go by this name prior to successfully taking over 4chan? that’s the question
you guys are able to save an excel file without it nuking everything?

that seems like a strange thing go be OS-dependent. I wonder why that is the case, if so
that makes sense! thanks for the break down, and good to know!

I’m not an admin or really THAT technically knowledgeable when it comes to underlying infrastructure of these things, but because you mention VPN users in reference to shared IPs - would it be worth considering and mentioning mobile users or users otherwise on CGNAT networks?
For example, TMobile Home Internet would result in multiple users being represented by a shared public IP. Maybe these exit nodes don’t have nearly the number of users under one IP in comparison to users behind a popular VPN services assigned IPs? I don’t know, but thought it might be relevant! I understand it’s also a tool geared toward combatting this spam and only so much can be considered against the improvement.
I’ve yet to get to the bottom of it. We were fortunately fairly close beforehand. I even have a few tattoos. But the nose ring… that’s what snapped it somehow.
pretty bizzarro! I laugh about it myself honestly.
I don’t have issues with redgifs. I thought I recalled a setting similar to media player defaults but I can’t find it, so I must’ve been thinking of infinity for reddit.
does it have anything to do with default browser, I wonder? I’m on grapheneOS with vanadium as my browser.
tailscale here as well. it’s honestly 2ezpz to set up, and that’s about it! this also allows you to access other services you may be hosting.
you can also specify an exit node that your traffic will route through if you are connected to your tailnet. for example, if you had a VPN client on your home router, you could set a PC on that network as your exit node and your remote traffic through tailscale would ultimately hit your home network and then out through your PC -> VPN -> Internet setup.
I absolutely agree. it was a sort of slap in the face, personally. I’ve been aware of the increasingly awful subscription model take-over of course, but seeing it presented that way and realizing how not-so-far-off that reality may be, finally put some fire behind it for me.
