ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Spotify to raise prices in SeptemberEnglish1·6 days agoYes! It always does the loading spin animation for like 10 seconds before it shows me my downloaded album. And some albums just never work at all. I have to go online and then offline again just to make it work at all, which defeats the purpose of being offline in the first place.
I just started my free qobuz trial though, and canceled my Spotify account. I mentioned their CEO as the reason I canceled.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Spotify to raise prices in SeptemberEnglish1·6 days agoThe offline features on Spotify are abysmal. Half my downloaded albums don’t even work. It’s the primary reason I’m looking for an alternative. How can an app with such a high market share be this shitty?
What makes this even more obscene is that National Forests and parks make a profit even though they are services and aren’t supposed to. They’re taking the profits that these collect and giving them to billionaires.
You’re both right. Capitalism accelerates climate change but so does the outrageous electricity requirements of LLMs.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you deal with the left over fat/oil in your pan?42·12 days agoHere’s another website. Google used to be so much easier to use.

Singapore is a solid source, right? It’s bizarre to me that this isn’t more widely known.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you deal with the left over fat/oil in your pan?252·12 days agoReusing cooking oil causes cancer. I thought this was wildly known, but I’m consistently surprised at how many people online say things like this.
This is why “drip jars” stopped being used in the 20th century. There used to be one in every house until it was understood it causes stomach cancer.

Bullshit. It’s painfully obvious that this was either written by a dog person or is using a tired stereotype to get clicks and make an easy joke.
I usually like Pizzacake.
Yeah! All aluminum cans have a thin plastic lining. So do soup cans. They’re still both better than plastic packaging, but it just shows how difficult it is to completely remove plastic from your life.
I drink a lot of beverages that come in aluminum cans so I am reaaaally hoping that they have less microplastic risk than 100% plastic packaging does.
They have excellent iced tea, too. They’re sweetened with agave nectar, so the whole 20 ounce can only has like 6 grams of sugar and isn’t too sweet.
Liquid Death isn’t bottled, it’s canned. They’re whole gimmick is “death to plastic” which is a little ironic considering that aluminum cans have a plastic lining.
Still, it’s a great product. They’ve eliminated 99.9% of the plastic, so I think the slogan still works.
I wear Bedrock sandals as often as I can. I only switch to shoes when the temp won’t be going above 50 for the day. Previously I have always worn Xero shoes, but I was thinking about replacing them with a Lem shoes/boots. I like Xero, but they’re a little too minimal for a lot of conditions. I’m hoping Lem have a slightly thicker sole.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do people hate coldplay?231·28 days agoI don’t “hate” Coldplay, I nothing them. I don’t care for their sound at all, but am routinely forced to listen to it in stores. I resent being forced to listen to music, but don’t hate the bands themselves.
The stores who play ten songs on a loop can go fuck themselves, however.
Sometimes telling someone to “calm down” is actually appropriate, but mostly it’s straight up gaslighting. If someone reacts negatively to hearing that, they very likely have a good reason. This meme is misogynistic .
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Most graphics cards still sell well above MSRP, led by Nvidia's RTX 5080 and 5090English121·1 month agoWell, what else are we supposed to do? Our hands are tied. I live in the Seattle metro and for some insane reason we don’t have a single retail option for graphics cards. I wasn’t able to get one off Newegg on launch day before they were all gone to bots, so my only option was eBay.
I hate enabling scalpers but it was either that or risk paying 47’s stupid fucking tariffs. I had a narrow window to skip the tariffs upcharge and I took it. I would rather pay the extra $200 to an asshole scalper than to the federal government so they can spend it on their gestapo.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•Steam now generates three times more revenue for Capcom than PlayStationEnglish12·1 month agoI agree, but they have no incentive to do so when gamers buy it anyway. People need to vote with their wallets.
Call of Duty sales suggest this isn’t happening.
Maybe I’m the problem for clicking on a post about a game I haven’t played yet, but also maybe if you include a major spoiler as your second sentence, your first sentence should mention the incoming spoiler.
Just a suggestion.
